The Spider People Series - Henrietta Talbot

Name, Job and Team:

Henrietta Talbot, Senior Account Manager, Consumer Team

How long have you been at Spider?

Just over three years, joined in the middle of lockdown!

If you had to describe Spider in three words, what would you choose?

Varied, welcoming and fun

What does a typical day look like for you?

It’s hard to sum up one day as they can be pretty varied! But a typical day would kick off by scanning through coverage for our clients, and also the latest news for us to jump on.

I’d say the majority of a ‘normal’ day is spent liaising with clients and media, and making sure that activity is progressing on the accounts I oversee. Often that means calls with clients as well as making sure my team has everything they need for their media outreach and day-to-day activity.

We also try meet media face-to-face, so often my day involves taking a journalist out to lunch, whenever possible at one of the delicious restaurants we represent. Working with a  number of our restaurant clients also means myself and my team are responsible for hosting and implementing a number events, so often we are preparing for those and attending them in the evening.

What’s the best bit about working here?

I’d definitely say the people! I always find this the most important thing about a job as you spend 90% of your time with them. Working with nice people also massively increases everyone’s confidence, which I think is so important in a creative industry.

What are you looking to achieve in the next 3+ years?

I’d love to continue progressing at Spider and maybe head up my own team one day.

What’s the best campaign you’ve worked on at Spider?

We created this great sustainability campaign for Govia Thameslink Railway, where we worked with a florist to design ‘The Bug Station’, a miniature train station for bugs which was housed at Blackfriars Station, overlooking the incredible view of the Thames. I loved it because it was such a visual way of showcasing a train company’s sustainability initiatives. It also went down really well with press which is always a bonus!

What’s been your greatest achievement at Spider?

I think it’s looking back at how much more confident I am at work in comparison to when I first started.

When you’re not at work, what do you love doing?

Trying out new restaurants, hanging out with friends, and being with my dog.

Who would be your dream client?

A restaurant like KFC would be so fun to work on as they do really clever and fun campaigns. Plus, who doesn’t love fried chicken.
