Well Packaged Disruption: Spider wins Transcend Packaging comms brief

Spider is delighted to announce its appointment by Transcend Packaging to handle its corporate and B2B communications.

A truly disruptive challenger in the sustainable packaging market, Transcend Packaging was set up in 2017. The founders credit David Attenborough’s Blue Planet II series as the catalyst for a call to action.

Committed to reducing consumer and industry reliance on plastics, Transcend Packaging has already seized the paper straw market, counting many of the UK’s biggest and most famous high street restaurant chains on its books.

It has also made significant investments into next-generation digital production capabilities in order to target the FMCG paper packaging sector and provide customisation and value not offered by traditional printing methods.

With government bans on plastic straws coming into effect in the UK and beyond from 2020 and the dawn of the digital production era for FMCG packaging, business is set to boom for Transcend.

Having assembled an expert team with over 250 years of combined experience, Transcend Packaging won The Spectator Julius Baer Economic Disruptor Award for the North West and Wales and was named the overall UK runner-up for its combination of social and ecological impact and solid business prospects.

Sara Pearson, Spider CEO says, “The Transcend business model is already recognized as a significant economic disruptor and we are delighted to be appointed to help them deliver ground-breaking change in the packaging industry. It is a brief that appeals to Spider’s skillset across corporate, business and consumer markets.”
